Shun cultism, other vices, OSCO-HEALTH Provost urges matriculating students

Provost of Osun State College of Health Technology, Ilesa, Dr. Lateef Raheem, has called on students, especially the newly matriculated ones, to shun cultism and other social vices to excel academically and uphold the dignity of the institution.

He made this appeal during the matriculation ceremony for students admitted into the College for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Raheem assured the fresh students that the College remains committed to providing a conducive learning environment.

He urged them to attend lectures consistently, participate actively in practicals, and be diligent in their clinical sessions.

According to him, the institution continues to offer numerous opportunities for academic and professional growth. He encouraged the students to join academic clubs, professional associations, health outreach programmes, and community development initiatives.

He said, “Dear matriculating students, as you sign the matriculation register today, remember that you are writing the first chapter of a new academic journey. Work hard, stay focused, and let integrity be your guiding principle.”

In her remarks, the Deputy Provost, Mrs. Margaret Oparinde, congratulated the students and their parents, emphasizing that the College will continue to uphold excellence and maintain its reputation as the leading health training institution in the region.

The Registrar, Mr. Moshood Afolabi, who administered the matriculation oath through the Heads of Departments, advised the students to remain dedicated and focused throughout their stay on campus.

Similarly, the Dean of Student Affairs, Mr. Olayemi Rasaq Bello, urged the students to be of good conduct in their host communities and maintain a cordial relationship with their landlords and landladies.

Departments represented at the matriculation include Pharmacy, Epidemiology and Disease Control, Medical Imaging and X-ray, Public Health, Community Health, Dispensing Opticianry, Environmental Technology, Dental Therapy, among others.
