In the spirit of Ramadan and the Lenten season, the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in Osun State has distributed 1,600 bags of 50kg rice to Muslim and Christian communities across the state.
The group also extended the gesture to labour unions, the National Association of Nigerian Students, and various ethnic groups, including Hausa, Igbo and Igala residents.
Speaking during the distribution exercise held at the Tinubu-Shettima campaign office in Osogbo, the Osun State Coordinator, Sunday Akere, said the initiative was aimed at easing the burden of rising costs on residents and ensuring that indigent families can celebrate the festive periods.
He noted that the intervention was designed to support both Muslims observing Ramadan and Christians undergoing the Lenten fast.
According to him, “Muslims have fasted for 30 days, and by the grace of God, Eid-el-Fitr will be celebrated soon. Our principal deemed it necessary to reach out in the spirit of giving and to ensure that every home enjoys the celebration.
“Likewise, Christians are observing the Lenten fast, which will culminate in the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to ensuring that the less privileged are not left out of these important celebrations.”
Akere added that beneficiaries of the distribution include Muslim groups, the Christian Association of Nigeria, labour unions, student bodies, and ethnic associations across the state.
