Prof Adepoju urges women to support husbands, launches book on fathers’ sacrifices

Newly Published Book

A professor of Agricultural Economics at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, ,Prof. Adebusola Adepoju, has urged women to support their husbands to ease their burden and enhance their mental well-being and longevity.

She made this call at the launching of her new book, “The Sacrifices of Exceptional Fathers,” held in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

The scholar emphasized that building a home should not be the sole responsibility of the man.

She said, “Having and building a home should not rest solely on the father. These days, if women rise up and support their husbands because of the many responsibilities they shoulder, it would significantly ease the stress men go through and help celebrate their efforts.”

Prof. Adepoju added that the mounting pressure on men to provide for the family, support the children’s education and health, and care for the home can take a toll on their mental health if not balanced with emotional and practical support from their partners.

On the newly launched book, she explained that it draws from real life stories and experiences contributed by various individuals. These accounts, she said, offer practical wisdom and valuable insights for parents—both current and prospective.

“While writing the book,” she noted, “I discovered that many men today are eager to be actively involved in raising their children.

“This book is especially relevant for women, to help them understand and appreciate their husbands’ sacrifices. It’s also an important resource for aspiring fathers to see that modern fatherhood isn’t about being rigid or traditional—it’s about being present and committed.”

Also speaking at the event, traditional rulers including Oba (Dr.) Michael Odonayo Ajayi Arowotawaya II, the Elerinmo of Erinmo Kingdom, and Oba Ademola Kolawole Arinloye Ghadewolu I, the Owajigbo of Ejigbo Orangun, praised the book for shedding light on the often overlooked sacrifices that fathers make in raising their children.

They described “The Sacrifices of Exceptional Fathers” as a timely and an insightful contribution to family discourse and a worthy celebration of fatherhood.
