Pray for Akeredolu as you celebrate Christmas, Aiyedatiwa urges Ondo people

Ondo State Acting Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, on Wednesday enjoined the people of the state to pray for the speedy recovery of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu who is on medical vacation abroad, as they celebrate the Christmas and New Year festivities.

Also, he enjoined the people to continue to relate with one another in the warm spirit of radiant love, peace, harmony and brotherliness as they celebrate the Yuletide.

He spoke at this year’s Service of Carols and Nine Lessons, held in Akure, the state capital.

Aiyedatiwa who read the Ninth Lesson at the occasion, acknowledged Governor Akeredolu’s giant strides in all sectors of the economy in the state.

Rejoicing with the people for witnessing another season of love and peace, he stressed that living together in peace, unity and love irrespective of whatever differences will facilitate the rapid socioeconomic development in the state.

His words: “Events like these remind us of the essence of love, peace, brotherliness and solidarity in our communities. They provide us with a moment to reflect on our shared values and the importance of coming together to build a better society.”

Also, he articulated a range of vital messages, touching on unity, financial updates, citizen well-being, and communal support.

He ppreciated the traditional and religious leaders for their invaluable roles in promoting unity and development within the state, the Acting Governor

Also, he acknowledged the social groups and labour unions’ significant contributions to maintaining industrial harmony and peace in the state.

While asking for the support of all for the Akeredolu-led administration, he also reassured that government would continue to protect the interests and welfare of all citizens in the state.

According to him, the Akeredolu administratiom has cleared all outstanding salaries and bonuses, and has also disbursed one billion to settle pensions and gratuities.

He urged the people to celebrate in moderation and distance themselves from criminal activities, but promote a safe and joyous environment for all.

Also, he stressed government’s commitment to fostering unity, ensuring financial stability and prioritizing citizens’ welfare.

Earlier in his sermon, the Diocesan Bishop of Akoko Anglican Diocese, Rt. Rev. J. O Bada, while calling for more prayers for Governor Akeredolu, equally admonished all to love one another and avoid divisive tendencies.

With Aiyedatiwa at the occasion were key government officials, including members of the State Executive Council led by the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu; members of the State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon Olamide Oladiji; judicial officers led by the State Chief Judge, Justice Olusegun Odusola; Caretaker chairmen, religious leaders, traditional rulers; and Permanent Secretaries, among others.

There were also the state CAN chairman, Rev. Fr. Anselm Ologunwa; the Archbishop of Ondo Province and Diocesan Bishop of Akure Diocese, The Most Rev. Dr. Simeon Borokini; and the Diocesan Bishop of Owo Anglican Communion, the Rt Rev Dr. Stephen Fagbemi, among several other priests.

Major highlights of the occasion were the rendition of specially-composed Carol’s by the choir and cutting of Christmas cake.
