The Nigeria Police Force has promoted its former Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP),vand redeployed him as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Delta State Command.
The promotion, approved by the Police Service Commission, was followed by Adejobi’s formal decoration with his new rank.
His redeployment to Delta State is described as a strategic move to bolster security operations in one of Nigeria’s most complex and sensitive regions.
This development also puts to rest widespread speculations suggesting Adejobi’s exit as FPRO was controversial or punitive.
Police authorities clarified that the redeployment is a routine administrative decision, aligned with career progression and the ongoing restructuring within the Force.
Senior police sources at Force Headquarters noted that Adejobi’s wealth of experience in public communication, operational leadership, and community policing made him a natural fit for the Delta Command’s operational portfolio.
In his new capacity, DCP Adejobi is expected to play a critical role in overseeing security operations, tackling violent crime, and strengthening police-community relations across Delta State—an area widely regarded as pivotal to Nigeria’s internal security landscape.
His elevation underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to merit-based advancement and the strategic placement of its top personnel in areas where their expertise can deliver the most impact.
