Osun State Police Command has debunked claims circulating in a viral video suggesting that bandits attacked travellers at Omi Funfun, Ora Igbomina, in Ifedayo Local Government Area of Osun State.

In a statement on Monday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abiodun Ojelabi, clarified that the alleged incident did not occur in Osun but rather in Kwara State.

“The Police Command wishes to clarify and inform the general public that the trending video on social media has nothing to do with Osun State.
The alleged attack occurred on August 18, 2025, around the Rore/Arandun area in Kwara State,” the statement read.

Ojelabi warned against the spread of misleading and unverified information, emphasizing that falsely attributing incidents from other states to Osun could cause unnecessary panic among residents.

“The Command urges the public to disregard the viral video and warns against sharing or tagging such unverified content as having occurred in Osun State,” he added.

Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Gotan reassured residents of Osun that the state remains secure, noting that security measures have been reinforced across all local government areas to maintain peace and public safety
