Police chiefs visit OAUSTECH new VC Ologunorisa, assure constant security

The Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Okitipupa Area Command, Mr. Salau Jimoh, has promised to work together with the Management of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, OAUSTECH, to always ensure security of lives and property of the institution’s staff and students.

A statement by the university’s spokesman, Mr Abdulmajeed Adebayo, said that the police boss gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to the university’s new Vice Chancellor, Prof. Temi Emmanuel Ologunorisa, in his office at the main campus on Igbokoda Road in Okitipupa, on Tuesday, March 1.

The Area Commander acknowledged the existing cordial relationship between the University and the police and pledged that he and his men would contribute their quota to the security and peace of the University, as he thanked OAUSTECH for the newly-built Police Post at Igodan.

Also speaking, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Igbekebo, Mr Olajide Orogade, a Superintendent of Police (SP), who was a former student of Prof Ologunorisa, congratulated the Vice-Chancellor for the well-deserved appointment, as he prayed that his tenure would bring more development and progress to the University.

It said that he advised the University to look at a way of having its own shuttle buses at a subsidized rates for the convenience of students and as another means of internally generated revenue for the institution.

In his remarks, Ologunorisa thanked the security chiefs for the visit and expressed his readiness to work with them for the maintenance of peace and security in the University, stressing that “It is only in an atmosphere of peace that progress can be made.

“I promise to give you my utmost support because the University needs you.”

Giving vote of thanks, the University Registrar, Mr. Ganiyu Saliu, appreciated the police chiefs for their visit, well-wishes and advice, as he assured them that Management would look at what it can do about the University running shuttle buses raised by the DPO.

Others present at the meeting were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Francis Igbasan, DPO of Okitipupa, Mustapha Bolaji Akeem, and the University’s newly appointed Deputy Director of Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Mr. Paul Busayo Adeagbo.
