Detectives have arrested one pastor of Christ Apostolic Bible church in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old chorister of the church.

Also arrested alongside the pastor is his wife, who allegedly connived with her husband by aiding and abetting the alleged crime.

The pastor and his wife were arrested on Friday following a complaint reported at Adatan divisional headquarters by the victim, who told the police that while she was in the church for choir practice, the pastor’s wife called her out and directed her to go meet the pastor in his room.

The victim claimed the pastor’s wife told her that the pastor wanted to send her on errand but when she got into the room, the pastor’s wife shut the door from outside while the pastor overpowered her.

She also explained to the police that the pastor’s wife later came in after her husband had satisfied himself and met her crying, she tried pacifying her to stop crying as the encounter had now made her a woman, warning her never to tell anybody about it or risk death.

The police spokesperson in the State, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who made this known in a release on Sunday, said the Divisional police officer for Adatan division, Salaudeen Abiodun, mobilised detectives to the scene and arrested the pastor and his wife.

Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police(DSP), said that following interrogation, the couple confessed to the crime but blamed the devil for it.

According to police image maker in the State, pastor and his wife have also asked for forgiveness from the victim while the 16-year-old too had been taken to hospital for medical treatment.
