The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Labour Party, LP, are not in the list of 14 political parties cleared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the forthcoming governorship election in Osun State.
INEC has just published the personal particulars of candidates and their running mates for the election, stating that 14 political parties complied with nomination requirements within the stipulated timeframe.
It said in a statement issued on February 15, 2026 that the 14 cleared parties successfully uploaded the names and credentials of their candidates following the conclusion of party primaries and the close of the nomination window.
The parties that met the requirements according to the commission’s Public Affairs Office in the state, Musa Olurode, are: A, AA, AAC, ADC, ADP, APGA, APC, APM, APP, BP, NNPP, PRP, YPP, and ZLP.
He noted that only these parties, having fulfilled the constitutional and regulatory conditions, will participate in the election.
INEC stated further that, in line with Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022, copies of each candidate’s Form EC9, including academic qualifications and other supporting documents, will be available for public scrutiny from Monday, February 16, 2026.
The documents will be displayed at the INEC State Office in all the 30 Local Government Area offices
The Commission urged political parties, candidates, and members of the public to carefully examine the documents as provided by law.
The statement pledged that INEC, under the leadership of the state’s Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mutiu Agboke, reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, professionalism, and the conduct of a credible poll.
The Commission also called on stakeholders and the electorate to continue supporting its constitutional mandate to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful election.
