The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has commended the Nigeria Police Force, particularly the authorities and operatives of the Zone XI Command, for their prompt and patriotic efforts in investigating the brutal murder of its members in Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State.
The party acknowledged the steps taken so far by the Zone XI Command following the petition submitted over the tragic incident and urged the police to sustain their professionalism, diligence, and commitment to justice until all those responsible for the heinous crime are brought to book.
In a statement issued by the party’s Chairman, Mr. Sunday Bisi, the PDP, however, called on the Zone XI authorities to intensify their efforts by ensuring the immediate arrest and prosecution of Kazeem Oyewale, popularly known as Asiri Eniba, who was named in the petition submitted to the police and widely identified as the alleged ringleader of the assailants.
The party noted that the arrest and prosecution of all suspects, without fear or favour, would further strengthen public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force and serve as a strong deterrent to political violence and criminality.
Bisi also expressed sympathy with a police officer who was reportedly attacked and injured during an operation to arrest some of the suspects.
He commended the bravery, dedication, and sacrifice of the injured officer and other operatives involved, and wished the affected officer a speedy and full recovery.
Reiterating the party’s firm stance, the PDP maintained that no political ambition is worth the blood of innocent citizens, stressing that anyone found culpable in the killing of fellow Nigerians must face the full weight of the law, regardless of political affiliation, influence, or status.
The PDP Chairman further emphasised that a thorough, impartial, and transparent investigation and prosecution of the matter would help sustain the relative peace currently enjoyed in Osun State, particularly under the administration of Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, whom he described as a consistent advocate of peace, the rule of law, and tolerance.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to justice for the victims and pledged to continue engaging relevant authorities constructively in the interest of peace, security, and constitutional democracy.
