Eighty five students of the University of Jos (UNIJOS), who are indigenes of Oyo State, who were evacuated from the troubled Plateau State by the state government, arrived Ibadan yesterday.
They were received by Governor Seyi Makinde, who assured the students that the state government would always do everything within its capacity to protect the life and property of its indigenes and residents.
He was represented by his Chief of Staff, Segun Ogunwuyi.
Makinde had, at the weekend, ordered the evacuation of the students of Oyo State origin, having deployed his Special Assistant on Students Affairs to Jos to lead the evacuation.
He reassured the evacuees that the state would always be proactive in protecting the lives of its indigenes and residents, irrespective of their places of residence or locations.
While the elated students expressed joy and appreciation to the governor for bringing them out of the troubled zone, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Students’ Matters, Victor Olojede, in his remarks, commended Makinde for providing all that were needed in accomplishing the task.
