Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has told the Osun Security Network Agency code-named ‘Amotekun Corps,’ to collaborate with counterpart security groups in the South-West states to keep the region safe.
He spoke on Tuesday in Ejigbo at the passing-out-parade ceremony for the 360 newly-recruited officers into the Amotekun corps.
He charged the corps officials to be professional and discipline, adding that his administration had recruited 750 vigilantes in all local governments in the state to provide intelligence on the activities of criminals.
“Amotekun is created to collaborate with the security agencies and the vigilance groups and hunters across the state to ensure security in a peaceful, harmonious and professional manner. It is a complementary and collaborative security outfit. I urge you to collaborate with your colleagues in neighbouring South-West states to keep our region and our people safe,” Oyetola said.
The Chairman, Osun Security Network Agency/Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Ademola Aderibigbe (retd) described Amotekun as a child of necessity.
