Marine and Blue Economy minister, Gboyega Oyetola, has greeted Muslims in Osun State and across Nigeria on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, urging reflection on the core values of sacrifice, faith, and unity.
His Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Dr. Bolaji Akinola, sain in a statement that his principal described the festival as spiritually significant, embodying total submission to the Will of Allah, and drawing from the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering obedience.
He said, “Eid al-Adha reminds us of Prophet Ibrahim’s devotion to God. It is a sacred time to renew our faith, show compassion, and rededicate ourselves to serving both God and humanity”.
Commending the resilience and industrious spirit of the Osun people, Oyetola, a former governor of the state, called on citizens across religious and political lines to use the festive season as a platform to promote harmony, mutual respect, and collective progress in the state.
He also appreciated members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state for their continued dedication.
“I salute the commitment of our APC family in Osun. Your loyalty, perseverance, and belief in our party’s progressive vision are deeply valued. May this celebration inspire deeper unity and renewed commitment to building a greater Osun and a stronger Nigeria,” he said.
The Minister stressed the importance of reaching out to the needy and embodying the social values Islam promotes, adding that sacrifice during Eid should go beyond the symbolic and translate into acts of kindness, generosity, and community service.
He prayed for peace and national progress, asking Allah to accept the sacrifices of the faithful and grant Nigeria’s leaders the wisdom to lead with integrity and compassion.
“On behalf of myself, my family, and the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, I wish all Muslims and the good people of Osun State a joyous, peaceful, and spiritually fulfilling Eid-el-Kabir. May Allah accept our offerings and bless our homes. Eid Mubarak,” he said.
