Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, has commenced the distribution of 7,000 bags of rice to residents of Osun State as part of efforts to support citizens during the Ramadan fasting and Lenten season.
The food distribution, tagged “Ileri-Oluwa Ramadan Package,” began on Thursday and is targeted at various groups and stakeholders across the state.
According to a statement made available on the initiative, the package comprises 7,000 bags of 10kg rice, which is equivalent to 1,200 bags of 50kg rice, and is being distributed across different clusters of residents in the state.
The beneficiaries include religious leaders, community leaders, political stakeholders, artisans, members of professional bodies, students’ union leaders, and other groups within the state.
The initiative, according to organisers, is part of Oyetola’s continued humanitarian support and commitment to the welfare of residents, particularly during significant religious periods observed by both Muslims and Christians.
The distribution is expected to reach thousands of households across the state, bringing relief and support to families observing the holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent.
The organisers also extended goodwill messages to the Muslim faithful, wishing them a spiritually fulfilling fasting period with the greeting: “Ramadan Kareem.”
