Osun State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, has been named the Best Information Commissioner in Nigeria by the National Leadership Award Committee.

The honour was conferred on him during the 2025 investiture ceremony held on Thursday, August 28, at Merit House, Abuja.

A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Enlightenment, Hon. Eniola Odeniyi, described the award as a significant source of pride for the government and people of Osun State.

The statement praised Alimi’s “outstanding performance both in the political arena and in his professional calling,” which earned him national acclaim from a reputable committee known for consistently rewarding excellence for over two decades.

It also highlighted the symbolic timing of the award, which came just a day after Osun celebrated its 34th anniversary of statehood.

This, the Ministry said, reflects the state’s rising profile and Alimi’s impactful role in strengthening government communication and public enlightenment.

Odeniyi further noted that Alimi was the only honoree from the South West, emphasizing the distinction and importance of the recognition.

He said, “On behalf of the Management and Staff of the Ministry, I rejoice with the government and good people of Osun State on this meritorious award.”

The Ministry encouraged Alimi to sustain his passion, resilience, and unwavering commitment to public service, stating that his efforts have established him as a respected voice not only in Osun but across the country.

It said, “We once again congratulate our Commissioner on this well-deserved recognition and wish him continued success in his service to the state and the nation.”
