Osun: Workers’ welfare our priority

Osun State Head of Service, Mr. Ayanleye Aina has urged workers to continue to be committed and dedicated to the course of moving the state forward through their various roles in the Civil Service.

He added that the State Governor, Ademola Adeleke will not renege on his promise to ensure that every Osun State worker is comfortable.

Aina stated these while declaring open the 2024 edition of the annual seminar for labour leaders in the State.

He added that the Governor will follow to the letter every promise made to Osun workers as being displayed through the approval of the 2023 staff promotion for eligible workers as well as payment of half salary arrears owed workers.

Also, he commended the Governor for being consistent with the payment of #15,000 and #10,000 as palliatives to active and passive workers respectively. 

In a lecture delivered by the Chairman, Osun State Independent Electoral Commission, Barr. Hashim Abioye who spoke on the “Role of Labour Movement In The Political Development and Democratic Enrichment of Nigeria in the 21st Century”, maintained that labour leaders should be more focused on national development.

 Abioye explained that the core mandate of labour movement is underscored by the struggles for democratic values such as human rights, welfare, wage, equality, and equal franchise.

In an address, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC) in Osun State, Comrade Christopher Arasopo identified labour unions as the tool to fight for the welfare of Public Servants in the State and to negotiate with the government on progress and development.

He urged all labour unions in the State to close ranks and work together for the benefit of all and sundry.

Earlier, the Chairman of the National Joint Negotiating Council,Osun State Council,Comrade Olasunkanmi Akindele commended Adeleke for keeping to his promises on workers’ welfare, stressing that workers have never had it so good under any government.
