Speaker of Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun has commended the state’s Police Commissioner, Mr. Kehinde Longe for his prompt action against some bad eggs in the Police Force
He described the CP’s swift action that led to the arrest of policemen caught in the act of extortion as a clear indication that the Force will not tolerate bad elements from destroying its image.
Egbedun gave the coendation on Friday while receiving the victims, Muhammed Ojebode and Olanrewaju Olamilekan in his office alongside some other lawmakers before going with them to meet the Commissioner of Police at the State’s Headquarters for their statements.
On Thuesday’s evening, some policemen were reprimanded by the Speaker in the Ido-Osun area of the State for extorting commuters.
The Speaker after questioning both of them, saluted their courage for flagging down his vehicle in the face of the threat to their lives.
He admonished them to continue to be law-abiding and learn from what is happening because it may only take time but the the law will always catch up with criminals society one day.
He ommended the Osun Police Commissioner for the swift action taken on the matter, noting that the quick intervention of Longe signals good leadership from the police authority.
In his words: “I am aware that those officers are kept behind bars since last night. I commend the Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr.Kehinde Longe for his swift response. That shows he is a noble man and a good leader.”
He then asked the victims to go with his colleagues to the Police Headquarters to give their own side of the incident to help the police authority in their investigation.
