Osun State Government has clarified that the processing and issuance of appointment letters to the first batch of newly recruited teachers is ongoing, dismissing reports that senior government officials are deliberately stalling the exercise.

The governor’s spokesman, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, made the clarification in response to conflicting media reports and allegations suggesting that the Head of Service and the Chief of Staff were frustrating the release of the appointment letters over financial concerns.

He explained that earlier delays in the recruitment process were caused by funding seizures and the implementation of the new minimum wage, not by internal opposition within government.

Rasheed stressed that Governor Ademola Adeleke’s directive on the issuance of appointment letters is currently being processed by the relevant agencies.

According to him, both the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) are working seamlessly under the supervision of the Ministry of Education and the Office of the Chief of Staff to ensure that newly recruited teachers are properly allocated between the two agencies.

His words, “Media reports claiming that the Head of Service and the Chief of Staff are blocking the release of appointment letters are false,” Rasheed said.

“These officials are working tirelessly to ensure the successful completion of the first phase of the exercise.”

He urged reporters to seek official clarification before publishing reports capable of distorting facts or casting aspersions on public officers who are diligently performing their constitutional duties.

“The recruitment process is ongoing, and the public will be duly informed through official channels as milestones are reached,” he added.

Rasheed reaffirmed that the Adeleke-led administration remains committed to good governance, strengthening the education sector, and fulfilling its promises to the people of Osun State.
