Osun state government has reiterated its commitment to training and retraining of its workforce to promote efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery.
The State Head of Service, Mr.Ayanleye Aina, disclosed this while opening a one-day workshop for the Local Government Staff Pension Bureau and the Pension Desk Officers of the Primary School Section in the State.
The workshop was held at the Conference room of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
He maintained that the training exercise aimed to broaden the horizon of the participants on the core objectives of a contributory pension scheme will assist them in establishing and implementing a set of rules and regulations for the present administration as well as payment of retirement benefits to beneficiaries.
The Head of Service further noted that life after retirement is a period that all actively employed people should look forward to.
To this end, he noted that the workshop would further expose workers to how to save towards their retirement and ensure that any officer who retires from public service will receive his/her benefits as and when due.
Aina attributed the huge success recorded in the contributory pension scheme in the state to the passion and resilience of the state helmsman, Senator Ademola Adeleke for the welfare of retirees.
He commended the management and staff of the Local Government Staff Pension Bureau for being partners in progress towards the enormous achievements recorded in the payment of retirement benefits under both old and contributory pension schemes to Osun State retirees.
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Staff Pension Burea, Mr. Abiku Ibrahim, encouraged participants to justify the funds expended on the workshop by the State Government by paying rapt attention to all the lectures delivered.
