As part of efforts to ease transportation problems occasioned by the effect of subsidy removal, the Osun State palliative buses have begun operation in Ile-Ife and Modakeke towns.
Residents of the two towns and environs were jubilant on the arrival of the ‘Imole De Buses’ in the ancient town to cushion the effect of the removal of fuel subsidy on the people.
The residents, who were seen entering the buses to their various destinations, described the gesture from the State Government as a good one because of the hardship the removal of subsidy on petroleum products has caused.
They stated that the intervention has gone a long way in saving people from transportation hardship which they noted as very key to the success or otherwise of Small and Medium Scale businesses.
Speaking, Mr Adedayo Jolaade who explained that bus plies Oke-Ogbo, Gbarin, Kosere, and OSCAS roads of Ile-Ife hinted that the buses have saved him a lot of transportation costs daily.
Also speaking, a student, Bukola Isiaka who stays in Modakeke, said the ‘Imole De Buses’ has helped a lot since they commenced operation on
Esuyare; Iraye road.
She explained that she waited for the bus every morning while going to school as well as during close time because of the meager transport fare her parents could afford to give her.
Meanwhile, the state Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Sesan Oyedele has hinted that anytime from now it will be the turn of Ikirun and Iwo to receive the services of the ‘Imole De Buses’.
