Osun State Police Command has assured residents and visitors of watertight security arrangements to ensure a peaceful celebration of this year’s Osun Osogbo Festival.
The grand finale of the festival which often attracts visitors, particularly tourists from across the world to Osun State capital is billed for Friday.
The state police boss, CP Ibrahim Gotan,
in a statement, said the command has put in place robust security measures, including the deployment of tactical units, patrol teams, and logistics across key locations in the state.
He said, “The festival, which attracts tourists from within and outside Nigeria, is expected to be celebrated in a peaceful and secure atmosphere without any threat, harassment, or intimidation.”
The Commissioner emphasized that officers from various units, including the Mobile Police Force, have been mobilized and placed on standby to respond to any emergency.
CP Gotan also issued a strong warning to individuals or groups planning to disrupt the festivities. He urged parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against involvement in cultism, hooliganism, or any act of public disorder.
“Anyone found in possession of arms or any offensive weapons will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law,” the statement added.
The Police Command appealed for public cooperation and encouraged citizens to report suspicious activities through the following emergency lines:

The Police PRO, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, who signed the statement on behalf of the Commissioner, advised members of the public to remain vigilant and security-conscious throughout the festivities.
“The Osun – Osogbo Festival is a symbol of cultural pride and unity. Let us celebrate it in peace,” the statement said.
