*The Alamo of Ayegbaju-Ijesa in Atakumosa East local government of Osun state, Oba Abideen Adeyemi, has sued the Department of State Security Service (DSS) for alleged forceful arrest and unlawful detention.

The monarch accused the operatives of the DSS of harassment and infringement on his fundamental rights.

In a suit number FHC/OS/CS/181/2024 filed before the Federal High Court, Osogbo, on August 5, a copy of which was obtained in Osogbo, the applicant joined the Director General, DSS, the state director, DSS, Mr. Geordi, Mr. Amosat, Chief Omololu Afilaka and Rotimi Ajewole, as respondents.

The suit was filed through his counsel, Soji Oyetayo Esq.

The applicant sought an order of the court, restraining Chief Omololu Afilaka and Rotimi Ajewole from using the instrumentality of the office of the 1st and 2nd respondents from further harassing, humiliating, arresting, detaining or curtailing his freedom of movement and his right to personal liberty.

He faulted the action of DSS via an allegedly malicious and frivolous petition written by Chief Omololu Afilaka and Rotimi Ajewole.

Oba Adeyemi said that the 1st to 4th respondents deprived him (the applicant) of his fundamental rights as enshrined in chapter IV of the Constitution of the Federal Republican of Nigeria.

He thereby sought an order of the court, awarding the cost of N50 million as general damages being the loss suffered by the applicant.
