Judicial workers in Osun State under the umbrella of Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), have suspended their protracted strike.
The call-off of the action, which began on September 19, 2025, followed a significant progress in resolving the union’s demands.
It was made on Monday by Comrade Idris Adedayo Adeniran, Chairman of JUSUN, Osun State, as a follow-up to a meeting held on December 10, convened by the Director of the Department of State Security Service (DSS), Osun State.
That meeting brought together key stakeholders, including the state’s Chief Judge, Justice Adepele Ojo; Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwole Jimi-Bada, SAN; and labour leaders from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Joint Negotiating Council (JNC).
Adeniran said notable progress had been made on critical demands, including:
2024 Junior Staff Promotions: The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has rectified the 2024 promotion exercise. Affected members are requested to appear before the JSC on Tuesday, December 16, 2025; and
2025 Promotions: The JSC has requested the list of eligible members for the 2025 promotion exercise, with affected staff scheduled to appear on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
Adeniran emphasized that the suspension is temporary, intended to allow the JSC to complete pending promotion matters and enable the judiciary management to clear the backlog of court work.
He urged management to coordinate with heads of courts to ensure a smooth resumption of duties after the Christmas break.
The union expressed appreciation to all stakeholders who facilitated the resolution, including DSS Director Mr. Kehinde Ayoola, the National President of JUSUN, Comrade Marwan Mustapha Adamu, labour leaders in Osun State, and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Osun State Branch.
CAdeniran praised the resilience and dedication of JUSUN members, reaffirming the union’s commitment to justice, unity, and the welfare of judiciary staff.
“Workers united can never be defeated. Aluta Continual! Victoria Asata!” he declared
