Speaking at the inauguration, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Bobagunwa Igbalaye, described the 2026 celebration, themed “Valour, Sacrifice and Unity: Honouring Our Heroes,” as a reflection of the patriotism, selflessness and national cohesion exemplified by officers and men of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Cabinet and Special Services, Office of the SSG, Mr. Olusoji Wojuade, Igbalaye paid glowing tribute to the courage, gallantry and unwavering dedication of the Armed Forces. He noted that their continued sacrifices in protecting lives and defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity against insurgency and other security threats remain a source of pride and inspiration to the nation.
He added that the commitment of the military to duty, often at great personal cost, underscores the need for governments and citizens alike to continually honour their service and sacrifice.
According to the SSG, the inauguration of the planning committee marks the beginning of coordinated efforts by the Osun State Government to carefully plan and execute a meaningful celebration in honour of serving, retired and fallen military personnel who have rendered selfless service to the fatherland.
