All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Osun State chapter, has endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term in office, citing his administration’s commitment to agricultural development and food security across the state.

They announced the endorsement during the commissioning of the Farmers’ House and the flag-off of the free distribution of agricultural inputs to rice farmers.

Representing AFAN at the event, David Ogunsade—who was represented by Toki Adekunle—highlighted the Governor’s achievements and his dedication to completing projects started by previous administrations.

He said, “For the first time, when the Governor visited this site and saw that the project initiated by former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola was yet to be completed, he promised it would be finished before his next visit.

“True to his word, the building is now completed—thanks to his administration’s support.”

He added, “Governor Adeleke has exceeded expectations in all sectors, especially agriculture. He has provided tractors, farm tools, fertilizers, and other support to farmers. Because of these significant contributions, we believe he deserves another term in office. We want the good work to continue till at least 2030.”

AFAN also appealed to the Governor to continue the construction of rural roads to ease access to markets and called for the provision of a bus for the association, as well as the establishment of value-added agricultural industries to support local farmers.

In a similar vein, the representative of rice farmers in the state, Ayeni Mathew, praised the Governor’s agricultural initiatives, noting that the group has cultivated over 1,000 hectares of rice across the state.

“With the kind of support we’ve received under this administration, we are confident of increased rice production in Osun. We fully support Governor Adeleke for a second term and assure him of our votes in 2026,” he stated.

In his remarks, Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to food security and farmer welfare.

“This commissioning is more than opening a building; it symbolizes our government’s commitment to farmers and sustainable food production. I’m pleased to announce that over 300 rice farmers will go home today with free paddy rice seeds to boost production in the state,” he said.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Agriculture disclosed that ten rice farmers were selected from each of the 30 local government areas of the state—totaling 300 beneficiaries—who will receive paddy seeds, herbicides, and fertilizers.

He urged the public to ensure continuity by supporting Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid in 2026.

“To sustain these empowerment programs in agriculture and other sectors, it’s crucial to re-elect Governor Adeleke. Let us all register and collect our voter cards to make this a reality,” he added.
