In its determination to attract foreign investors for economic and social development, Osun State Government has extended a hand of diplomatic fellowship with the United Arab Emirates(UAE).
This came to the fore when the Commissioner for Federal Matters, Hon. Adenike Adeleke paid a courtesy call to the UAE Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Saled Saeed Alshamsi in the country’s Embassy in Abuja.
The move by the state government is further premised on the need to enjoy robust partnerships and relationships with other countries to open Osun to the world.
Leading a team of officials of the State delegation to the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Nigeria, Mr Salem Saeed AlShamsi, Mrs. Adenike Adeleke spoke on the need for the country to collaborate with Osun State in the area of Women’s Education and Empowerment.
She explained that the country is popularly known for equipping women globally with the knowledge of their country’s economy, governance, and social development.
The Commissioner highlighted other areas of possible collaboration including Agriculture, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Tourism, and international exhibitions that can attract investors.
In his response, the Ambassador of the UAE to Nigeria, Mr Salem Saeed Alshamsi assured of his country’s readiness for collaboration and partnership with Osun State in the highlighted areas.
He urged the Commissioner to come up with proposals to that effect, saying that his team of experts would be ready to meet a similar team from Osun State any time the proposal is ready.
Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Federal matters, Oluomo Abiodun Oladoyin acknowledged the uniqueness of UAE saying that Osun state will surely benefit from the trade bilateralism and investment agreement to be entered into.
