The Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, SAN; National Leader of the All Progressives Congress APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; governors and other APC stalwarts have kicked-off the Campaign of Continuitfor the retention of power for the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Osun State in the September 22nd governorship polls.
Speaking at the flag-off campaign held at the Osun State stadium in Osogbo, Osinbajo enjoined people of the state to vote massively for the APC to enable its candidate, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola come up victorious in the election andto sustain the party’s developmental strides.
“On September 22nd, I appeal to all of you that gather here and others who are not here to ensure that you translate your supports for us to vote for Oyetola for the continuity of Governor Aregbesola’s giant strides in the state.
“The only way through which we can demonstrate our love for President Mohammed Buhari is to vote for continuity for more dividend of democracy”, he said.
These were contained in a statement by the press officer to Ondo State Governor, Mr Bode Akinwumi.
Also, Tinubu enjoined the electorate to ensure they get their PVC which would serve as their only weapon to vote for the party’s candidate, Gboyega Oyetola on the day of the gubernatorial election.
While stating that Osun state has always been for APC and would continue to remain as APC state, he urged the crowd who thronged the venue to troop out massively on the day of the election and ensure that Oyetola emerges victorious.
Tinubu who said the party has put all necessary arrangements in place that will give victory to its candidate, added that the state will continue to remain as one of the progressives in the South West of Nigeria.
The National Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, described the party’s candidate as a man trusted and tested to continue the legacy of performance in Osun State.
He added that the candidate is a man with capacity who according to him, had shown total commitment to the development of the state.
He recalled that the state was in comatose and a pitiable stage before the outgoing governor assumed office, hence the need to keep the tempo of progressives on through APC.
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, while addressing the gathering, enjoined them to unite to ensure that the party’s candidate comes out victorious on September 22.
Akeredolu who said things can only be achieved in unity, urged them to come together and vote massively for continuity which would further bring about more development and transformation of Osun State.
Other governors who spoke at the rally include those of Oyo, Senator Abiola Ajimobi; Ogun, Senator Ibikunle Amosun and Ekiti State Governor-elect, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
They appealed to the people of the state to ensure that Osun remains within the progressive family by voting for the party’s tested and trusted candidate come September 22nd.
At the flag-off campaign were: Chairman of the National Campaign Council who is the Kano state Governor, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje; members of the National Working Committee, Osun state Deputy Governor, Mrs Titi Laoye-Tomori; APC Interim National Chairman and former governor of Osun State, Chief Bisi Akande; Deputy National Chairman who is also a former governor of Ekiti State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo; Majority Leader, House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, former Minister of Defence, Hon. Musiliu Obanikoro and several other Chieftains.
