Osun State Government has debunked the perceived fake allegations being spread by the opposition All Progressives Congress to discredit the Governor Ademola Adeleke administration.
In a statement by his spokesman, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor knocked the APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, for using what he described as fake news to misinform the public about his performance.
Dismissing the claim that the governor had sacked teachers and health workers, the statement said the persons in question were unlawfully employed by the previous APC administration in violation of civil service rules.
It said, “We put it to the opposition scribe that Governor Adeleke never sacked any teachers or health workers.
“The former administration, just weeks before leaving office, appointed APC loyalists into these positions as a political trap. Those disengaged were never legitimate staff of the Osun State Government.”
It described the allegation that the government had dug holes under the Oke Fia bridge as “a pitiable lie”, it declared that “road construction in the area is ongoing, and the administration remains committed to infrastructural development.”
The statement outlined the state’s water sector agenda, including short-term, medium-term, and long-term strategies currently being implemented simultaneously.
On agriculture, he criticized the APC’s performance during its time in power, saying, “From 2015 to 2022, not a single tractor was purchased under the previous administration”, whereas, “In contrast, Governor Adeleke has already acquired and deployed 31 tractors across the state as part of the first phase of the government’s farm mechanization programme.”
He also highlighted several initiatives of the Adeleke administration, including the statewide agropreneur programme, a cocoa expansion plan, a cashew plantation scheme, and significant input support for farmers.
On market development, he urged the APC scribe to acknowledge the visible transformation across Osun’s commercial and industrial sectors.
“The Chamber of Commerce now enjoys robust government support. The state’s Free Trade Zone has been revitalized, and the ‘Osun 45 Days Window’ for obtaining Certificates of Occupancy is fully operational.
“Tax harmonization is now streamlined through a single window system, and cooperative societies and artisans are receiving empowerment statewide,” he said.
The statement cautioned the APC against using fake news as a political weapon and urged public discourse to be based on facts and verifiable developments.
