Osun State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Dipo Eluwole, has described the Osun State College of Health Technology (OSCO-HEALTH), Ilesa, as a vital pillar in the state’s drive toward transforming the health technology sector, both within the state and across Nigeria.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the institution’s Governing Board and management team to his office in Osogbo, Hon. Eluwole emphasized the College’s growing relevance in achieving the shared vision of technological advancement in healthcare — a priority area for both the state and federal governments.

The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Governing Board, Hon. Abayomi Adegoke, alongside the College’s Provost, Dr. Lateef Olarewaju Raheem, and other senior management officials.

Eluwole reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to supporting the growth and repositioning of the College. He disclosed that OSCO-HEALTH is among the state-owned tertiary institutions included in upcoming road infrastructure upgrades, which are part of wider development initiatives aimed at enhancing learning environments.

“Progressive governments around the world are investing heavily in health technology education, and Osun will not be left behind,” Eluwole said. “We are committed to making OSCO-HEALTH a reference point among health tech institutions in Nigeria.”

In his remarks, the Board Chairman, Hon. Abayomi Adegoke, restated the Board’s determination to actualize Governor Adeleke’s vision for the College. He assured that the welfare of students and staff would remain a top priority while revealing plans to improve the institution’s visibility and academic status.

Earlier, the Provost, Dr. Lateef Olarewaju Raheem, expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Education for its ongoing support and appealed to the Commissioner to champion the College’s upgrade to a polytechnic status. He noted that such a development would make the College eligible for TETFUND intervention funds, which it currently cannot access despite meeting key requirements.

Welcoming the delegation, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Mr. Murtala Jimoh, lauded the engagement and described it as a step in the right direction to strengthen collaboration between government and its institutions.

Other notable attendees during the visit included political board members: Alhaji Isiaka Akinlabi, Chief Mrs. Serifat Adenike, Hon. Akinjimi Sunday. Members of the College management present were Registrar Mr. Mushood Afolabi, Bursar Mr. Yinka Olaleye, Librarian Mrs. Kemi Ibitoye, and Director of Works Engr. Imran Kareem
