Osun State House of Assembly has invited the sacked Chief Judge of the state, Justice Oyebola Adepele Ojo, to appear before its Committee on Judiciary, Public Petition and Legal.

She is to clear herself of the allegations leveled against her.

The invitation was sent few hours after Governor Ademola Adeleke sacked the state’s former Chief Judge over alleged misconduct.

It was learned that the committee is to investigate the petitions submitted against the former CJ by inviting her and report to the House within seven days.

In a statement, Tiamiyu Olamide, the Chief Press Secretary to the Assembly Speaker, Adewale Egbedun, said the House also resolved that pending the outcome of the investigation, the Chief Judge should step aside, not for any disciplinary action, but to allow for proper investigation.

According to the statement: “This House decision is in line with the investigative powers vested on the House of Assembly by the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).”
