Tricycle operators in Osun State have been warned to ensure that they get all necessary documents for their automobiles.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Yakubu Adejare stated this while featuring on a weekly radio programme tagged ‘Aabo Loju Popo’.
He urged the tricycle operators to get documents such as hackney permit, road worthiness as well as vehicle licence.
“Tricycle operators are now being used by men of the underworld to wreck havoc on unsuspecting innocent residents of the State and they go scot free because they are not registered with government.”
Adejare warned that violators of the rules will henceforth be made to pay full penalties as it is now regarded as a traffic offence for tricycle owners to operate without necessary documents.
“We have recently discovered that a lot of tricycle operators in Osun State are on the road without necessary documents. It is regarded as a traffic offence henceforth.
“All tricycle operators must ensure they get necessary documents before they hit the road with their automobiles. Men of OTRAM and the VIO officials will begin to do a stop and search operation soon.
“Tricycles are being used to perpetrate evil by men of the underworld, any of operator that refuses to get his particulars will henceforth be regarded as an agent of evil”, he stated.
