–  Tourism Board mourns

Osun State Tourism Board has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Mrs. Solape Abolarin, the Executive Secretary of the the State Council for Arts and Culture, whose death was announced on Monday, June 9, 2025, following a brief illness.

In a condolence statement jointly signed by the Board Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Adeleke, and the General Manager, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Ajayi, and made available to newsmen, the Board described Mrs. Abolarin’s passing as a rude shock and a devastating loss to the state government and cultural sector.

“Her service will be most needed at this critical time. The vacuum left behind by her demise will be extremely difficult to fill,” the statement read.

The Board described the late Executive Secretary as a dedicated, passionate, and committed professional whose immense contributions to the development of arts and culture in Osun State will be greatly missed.

“We mourn the loss of a remarkable individual who brought immense value to our efforts. Her tireless dedication, positive contributions, and unwavering commitment were instrumental in many of our successes. She will be deeply missed by all of us at the Osun State Tourism Board, Osun Council for Arts and Culture, and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as a whole.”

Mrs. Abolarin, who assumed office as Executive Secretary in 2023, previously served as Director of Administration and Supplies in various ministries. She was widely respected for her passion, integrity, and vision for a culturally vibrant Osun State.

The Board extended heartfelt condolences to her family, particularly the royal family of Abolarin in Oke-Ila, and her children, praying that God grants them the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.

“We extend our sincere condolences to her immediate family and the Royal Family of Abolarin in Oke-Ila. May God Almighty grant them strength, resilience, and comfort during this painful time,” the statement concluded.

It is worth recalling that Olori Solape Abolarin, originally from Igbeti in Oyo State, began her civil service career in Oyo before marrying into the royal household of Oba Adedokun Omoniyi Abolarin, the Orangun of Oke-Ila in Ifedayo Local Government Area, Osun State.

Her death is not only a personal loss to her family and loved ones but also a significant setback to the cultural and tourism development efforts of Osun State.
