Senator Iyiola Omisore’s allegation that the Marine and Blue Economy Minister, Dr. Adegboyega Oyetola interfered in the screening process for the Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary is ‘baseless and misleading.’

Dismissing the allegation in a statement on Sunday, the Minister’s aide, Bolaji Akinola described Omisore’s claims as “totally false.”

He insisted that his principal had no involvement, direct or indirect, in the decisions of the Screening Committee saddled with vetting aspirants ahead of the December 13 primary election.

Omisore’, the party’s former National Secretary and the state’s ex-Deputy Governor, and six others were disqualified from the exercise.

Defending the minister, Akinsola said, “Dr. Oyetola did not, and could not have meddled in the screening exercise or in the affairs of the Screening Committee and the Screening Appeal Panel.

“These bodies are independent party organs empowered by the APC Constitution to discharge their duties without interference. Any suggestion of undue influence is wrong, unfair, and completely unfounded.”

He emphasized that Oyetola has always upheld fairness, transparency, and strict respect for the party’s rules — principles he said the Minister would never compromise.

His words, “As a former Governor of Osun State and a respected leader of the APC, Dr. Oyetola remains committed to internal democracy.

“He will never interfere in a process where he has no statutory role.”

Akinola urged the disqualified aspirants to channel any grievances through the party’s established mechanisms rather than resorting to unfounded allegations.

He reiterated the Minister’s commitment to the unity, growth, and stability of the APC, calling on all stakeholders to act in the collective interest of the party and the people of Osun State.
