The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has cautioned its governorship aspirants and the general public to remain vigilant amid what it described as emerging attempts by politically motivated fifth columnists to cause disunity within the party.

In a statement by the State Chairman, Mr. Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, the party alleged that certain elements have been sponsoring and circulating fabricated statements and misleading publications on social media using fictitious organisations and non-existent signatories, all aimed at creating disaffection among APC aspirants.

According to Lawal, the orchestrated falsehoods, which surfaced online on Sunday, were clearly designed to divide aspirants, destabilise the APC, and provoke unnecessary tension as the governorship race gathers momentum.

“We are fully aware of the intentions of those behind these fabricated narratives. Their desperation to manipulate public perception and force a predetermined outcome has already failed. No individual can predetermine political leadership transitions through illegitimate means,” he said.

He added that the ongoing disinformation campaign, allegedly aimed at promoting their preferred but controversial governorship candidate, “has collapsed under the weight of its contradictions.”

Lawal urged all APC governorship aspirants to disregard such divisive materials, stating that the “emissaries of discord” are conscious that their grip on power is threatened by the will of the people ahead of the 2026 election.

He stressed that aspirants must continue to educate their supporters so they do not fall victim to political and psychological warfare allegedly being waged by the ruling party, whose interest, he claimed, is to incite crisis within the APC—an organisation known for its commitment to due process and internal discipline.

The APC chairman also advised members to remain alert to further tactics by political actors “who, having lost direction, now seek to pull others down in a bid to remain relevant” in the state’s political landscape.

He reminded members that all APC governorship aspirants share a common mission: to bring an end to alleged dismal performance of Governor Ademola Adeleke and restore purposeful leadership to Osun State.

His words, “Our strength as the leading opposition party lies in the calibre of our aspirants—each one a credible, tested individual capable of offering a superior alternative to the incumbent leadership.”

He emphasised the need for aspirants and their supporters to avoid actions or statements that could expose party leaders to unnecessary controversy or diminish their public standing, particularly as they prepare for the coming electioneering period.

Lawal reaffirmed that the APC remains united in its resolve to end the current administration, which he alleged has failed to deliver meaningful socio-economic and political development to the people of Osun State.
