Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has mourned the death of Oba Yaya Akande Elugbaju Oramuyiwa III, the Obajio of Ife, who joined his ancestors at 86.

The party’s state chairman, Sooko Takudeen Lawal, in a statement issued on Tuesday by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, said the news of the sudden transition of the royal father was shocking and terrifying.

He described the passing of the monarch as a monumental loss not only to the ancient city of Ile-Ife but to Osun State at large, considering the high regard in which the traditional ruler was held.

Lawal extolled the late monarch’s virtues of wisdom, dignity and selfless service to his people, noting that Oba Oramuyiwa III was a symbol of unity and a pillar of traditional leadership throughout his reign.

According to the state APC chairman, the departed Obajio upheld the rich cultural values and heritage of the Yoruba people with great pride and commitment, making him a father figure to many within and beyond Ile-Ife.

He said, “The passing of Oba Yaya Akande Elugbaju Oramuyiwa III is a painful reminder of the ephemerality of life.

“We however, take solace in the fact that he lived a fulfilled life and left behind a legacy of peace, progress and principled leadership”.

The party also extended its heartfelt condolences to the royal family, the Ooni of Ife, the Ijio community, the Oramuyiwa Ruling House and the entire traditional institution in Osun State.
