Osun APC Blasts Adeleke For Allegedly Waging Calumny Campaign Against Tinubu

Osun State

Accuses Osun of Misinforming Public on LG Allocations

By John Dike, Osogbo

Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has faulted the claim that the Federal Government is withholding allocations meant for the state, insisting that such assertions were misleading and unfounded.

It cautioned the Governor Ademola Adeleke administration to desist from what it described as a sustained campaign of calumny against the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The party said the President has been making concerted efforts to improve the living conditions of Nigerians, stressing that criticisms from the state government were unjustified.

In a statement issued by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the APC said it was counterproductive for Governor Adeleke and his allies to continue denigrating the Federal Government, which, according to the party, has significantly increased federal allocations and revenue inflows to states.

The party alleged that the Adeleke-led administration was engaging in deliberate misrepresentation of facts in a bid to misinform the public and attract undue sympathy, describing the move as an attempt to cover up perceived shortcomings in governance.

It  expressed concern over comments reportedly made by the State Commissioner for Education, Mr. Dipo Eluwole, during a radio programme in Osogbo.

According to the APC, the issue surrounding local government allocations is linked to the Court of Appeal judgment delivered on February 10, 2025, which reinstated APC local government chairmen and councillors.

The party argued that the beneficiaries of the allocations are those recognised by law, adding that the opposition failed to pursue further legal redress following the judgment.

The statement also criticised the Commissioner for raising concerns about infrastructure damage at the State Technical College, Osogbo, following a recent rainstorm while appealing for external assistance.

It questioned the consistency of such appeals in light of the government’s spending priorities.

On the issue of school feeding, the APC dismissed claims that the programme was halted due to allocation challenges, alleging instead that it was only implemented for a brief period under the current administration.

The party further described as exaggerated the government’s claim that Osun State has become a model among Nigerian states, insisting that there is insufficient evidence to support such assertions.

It also interpreted the administration’s indication of possible teacher recruitment in a second term as a sign of inaction in the present, expressing confidence that the APC and its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), would emerge victorious in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

The APC additionally called on the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Mayowa Adejoorin, to clarify statements regarding waste disposal practices, particularly concerning enforcement inconsistencies.

Reacting to remarks by the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, the party dismissed allegations linking it to disputes involving the state government, describing such claims as baseless.

The statement also questioned the absence of Governor Adeleke from the state’s accountability programme, noting that citizens would prefer to hear directly from the governor on key governance issues.

The APC described the statewide radio programme as unproductive and a misallocation of public resources, insisting that it failed to deliver meaningful accountability to the people.
