The police have disclosed that the Amotekun boss in Osun State,  Dr Adekunle Omoyele, voluntarily honoured their invitation.

Dismissing the reports of his arrest in the social media as misleading,  the police in a statement by Osun State command’s spokesman,  Mr. Idowu Abass, said that Omoyele on his own reported at the Force Headquarters, Abuja in connection with the ongoing investigation of recent killings, allegedly by Amotekun operatives at Akinlalu.

Specifically, the state Amotekun Corps commander on Thursday voluntarily honoured an invitation extended to him by the Inspector General of Police at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

The statement said that Omoyele, who had been receiving medical treatment following an attack on him by unknown gunmen on Monday, October 6, kept his word to appear before the police as soon as he was declared fit.

According to the statement, “Upon his discharge from the hospital, he personally visited the Force Headquarters to provide clarifications on matters related to the ongoing investigation into the Akinlalu incident.

“Contrary to misleading reports circulating on social media, Dr. Omoyele was not arrested. He has remained fully cooperative with the police since the beginning of the investigation and continues to uphold the principles of discipline and respect for the rule of law, as expected of a responsible security agency.”

The statement advised the public to disregard false narratives and avoid spreading unverified information.
