A former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Timothy Owoeye, has advised members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to complement prayers with deliberate political action ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
He gave the advice on Wednesday during the annual Ramadan lecture organised by the United APC Registered Support Groups at the IleriOluwa campaign office in Osogbo.
The event, which focused on seeking divine intervention for the party’s success in the forthcoming poll, attracted party leaders, supporters, and stakeholders from across the state.
In his keynote address, Owoeye stressed that while prayer remains important, it must be backed by practical efforts such as voter mobilisation, participation in the continuous voter registration exercise, and active involvement on election day.
“Our prayers for victory must be supported with hard work. We must mobilise, canvass support, ensure eligible voters are registered, and come out en masse to vote,” he said.
He urged party members to intensify grassroots engagement in support of the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, expressing confidence that collective efforts would translate into victory at the polls.
Owoeye also commended the Director-General of the support groups, Alhaja Risikat Adebukola Lawal, and members of the organisation for hosting a successful programme.
He expressed optimism that the party would emerge victorious in the election, adding that members would have cause to celebrate at the end of the exercise.
“By the grace of Allah, we shall all rejoice after the victory of our candidate on August 15. May we witness the end of this Ramadan and many more in good health,” he added.
The Osun governorship election is expected to be keenly contested, with political parties intensifying mobilisation efforts across the state.
