Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, has pledged that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, will conduct a credible 2026 governorship election.
He gave the pledge during a roundtable discussion organized by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rave FM, and WSTV Chapel in Osogbo, where he reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to transparency, inclusiveness, and credibility in the conduct of elections.
Agboke stressed the importance of partnerships with the media and civil society in building public trust and deepening democratic values.
Participants at the roundtable renewed the call for collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure a free, fair, and credible electoral process in Osun State and across Nigeria
The interactive session0 focused on strengthening electoral transparency, civic education, and enhancing media participation in the lead-up to the forthcoming 2026 Governorship Election in the state.
it brought together journalists, civil society organizations, and other key stakeholders to deliberate on critical electoral issues, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s strategic preparations in Osun State and the media’s vital role in promoting electoral integrity.
Key discussion points included:
- The effectiveness of election technologies deployed by INEC;
- Youth participation in the democratic process;
- The menace of vote buying;
- Security of INEC facilities and personnel;
- Voter education and public enlightenment; and
