The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Osun State and Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) have strengthened their partnership ahead of the coming governorship election.
In fact, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, met a KDI delegation in his Osogbo office during a courtesy visit aimed at deepening collaboration.
Leading the delegation, the Executive Director of KDI, Mr. Bukola Idowu, commended the REC for his proactive preparation and early readiness for the forthcoming election.
He stated that the visit was to reaffirm KDI’s support for INEC and contribute to strengthening a credible, free, fair, and transparent electoral process in the state.
Idowu emphasized KDI’s longstanding commitment to advancing democratic values through data-driven advocacy, civic engagement, and strategic partnerships that promote accountability and enhance citizens’ confidence in the electoral system.
In his response, Agboke expressed appreciation for the visit, describing KDI as a formidable and credible institution known for providing factual data and actionable insights that consistently enrich Nigeria’s democratic and electoral processes.
He affirmed INEC’s commitment to expanding collaboration with KDI in key areas such as:training of INEC staff and ad-hoc personnel, capacity building for security agencies on election duties, combating misinformation and harmful electoral narratives handle enhancing stakeholder engagement and public enlightenment
The REC noted that strengthening partnerships with reputable organizations like KDI is essential to building public trust and ensuring that the 2026 Osun Governorship Election meets the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.
The meeting concluded with mutual assurances of continued cooperation and a shared commitment to promoting credible, peaceful, and inclusive elections in Osun State.
