By John Dike, Osogbo
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Osun State has announced the commencement of the remaining activities under Phase 1 of the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise, following a directive issued by the Commission’s National Headquarters on Friday, November 21, 2025.
According to the Commission, the renewed activities fall in line with the nationally approved CVR timetable and are aimed at ensuring that all eligible citizens have sufficient opportunity to register, update their details, or verify their voter information ahead of future elections.
INEC confirmed that Phase 1 of the CVR will continue until December 10, 2025, after which several critical processes will take place to enhance the accuracy and credibility of the voters’ register.
Under the schedule released, the Preliminary Register of Voters will be printed between December 13 and 14, 2025, paving the way for the mandatory public display exercise.
From December 16 to 21, 2025, the register will be displayed across the 30 local government INEC offices in Osun State for claims and objections. During this seven-day period, citizens are encouraged to verify their details and raise complaints or corrections where necessary.
INEC has set aside December 21, 2025 specifically to receive, document, and process all complaints arising from the display exercise. This will be followed by the updating of voter data on December 22, 2025, where corrections and validated adjustments will be effected.
Osun INEC office further announced that Phase 2 of the CVR exercise will officially resume on January 5, 2026, giving another opportunity for citizens who were unable to participate in the initial phase.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and the continuous strengthening of Nigeria’s electoral system. He urged eligible citizens, especially first-time voters and those who need updates to their records, to take full advantage of the exercise.
The Public Affairs Officer, Musa Olurode, who signed the statement, advised the public to rely strictly on INEC’s official communication channels to avoid misinformation or misleading reports circulating online.
