As political activities intensify ahead of the 2026 Osun State governorship election, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Falilat Oyetunji, popularly known as Ero Arike, has issued a stern warning to party leaders, cautioning them against fielding any candidate with a questionable or criminal past.
Ero Arike emphasized that individuals of “proven and questionable character” must not be allowed to fly the party’s flag in the 2026 governorship race, urging the leadership to prioritize integrity and accountability in its selection process.
In a viral video circulating on social media, Ero Arike who has openly declared support for one of the aspirants, Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) cautioned the party against repeating what she described as “past mistakes” in its internal decision-making.
“Don’t pick a murderer as a candidate,” she declared emphatically.
“It is better we learn from the previous incident. We will not mourn over our children. I can foresee what may happen if we don’t act wisely.”
The APC stalwart warned that endorsing the wrong candidate could have dire consequences for both the party and the people of Osun State. She urged party stakeholders to ensure that integrity, accountability, and character remain central to the upcoming primary election.
Her comments came just days after she publicly criticized the APC leadership over the alleged mismanagement of local government funds recently disbursed across the state.
Ero Arike, who has recently become more vocal on party issues, reiterated her commitment to promoting transparency and good governance within the APC. She insisted that only credible individuals should be entrusted with the party’s ticket for the 2026 governorship election.
Her remarks have sparked mixed reactions among party members, supporters, and political observers, many of whom are speculating about the identity of the individual she was referring to.
As the momentum builds up toward the party’s primaries scheduled for November this year, various political camps within the APC are intensifying consultations and strategizing, signaling what may become a highly competitive contest.
