Osun State

The Ademola Adeleke Campaign Organisation of has declared that the political landscape ahead of the 2026 governorship election in Osun State is firmly in favour of the incumbent governor and his party, the Accord.

In a statement issued on April 8, 2026, the group dismissed claims by Wole Oke and the All Progressives Congress (APC) that the opposition stands a strong chance of reclaiming the state in the forthcoming August poll.

Oke had reportedly argued that Adeleke’s narrow victory margin of about 28,000 votes in 2022, coupled with recent defections, would favour the APC.

However, the Adeleke Campaign Organisation described such assertions as “fantasy without grounding in reality,” insisting that the political dynamics across Osun’s nine federal constituencies have shifted significantly since the last election.

According to the group, the ruling camp has gained strength through widespread defections from the APC to the Accord, alongside what it described as growing grassroots support and rising approval ratings for the governor. It further claimed that many former APC strongholds have now become firm bases for the Accord.

The organisation also criticised the APC for allegedly failing to present a clear manifesto ahead of the election, while highlighting Adeleke’s “people-based five-point agenda” and a published compendium of achievements since assuming office in 2022.

It maintained that the governor’s political structure remains intact and has been reinforced by stakeholders, grassroots movements, labour groups, and civil society actors across the state.

The group further asserted that a significant majority of key voting blocs have endorsed Adeleke for a second term.

Citing widespread support across major regions including Ijeshaland, Ifeland, Igbominaland, Osogbo, Ede, Iwo, and Ikire, the organisation expressed confidence that the governor would secure victory with a margin exceeding 200,000 votes.

The statement also noted what it described as increased political awareness among the electorate, with various groups allegedly mobilising to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.

The campaign organisation, however, commended Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to ensuring a free and fair election in Osun State, noting that the President has assured all parties of a level playing field.

Reaffirming its position, the group concluded that the people of Osun State are determined to re-elect Governor Adeleke in the August 2026 governorship election.
