In continuation of its campaign on waste management, the Ondo State Environmental Protection Agency, OSEPA, has unveiled a targeted billboard.
A statement by the agency’s spokesman, Mr. Bisi Agboola, said the billboard was tagged “Please Sort Your Plastic Waste from 0ther Solid Waste To Ease ReCycling”.
Speaking during the Unveiling Ceremony, the Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Oyeniyi 0seni noted with happiness the success recorded in the last two editions of the 0SEPA summit.
The forum proportionally drew people’s consciousness for proper management of plastic waste for environmental sustainabillity.
He thanked Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for giving the agency the space to thrive.
Oseni thereafter cut a tape to declare open the summit with the Theme “Combating the Menace 0f Plastic Pollution; Consolidation Time”.
Earlier in her opening remark at the occasion, OSEPA’s Administrative Secretary, Princess Korede Giwa stated that the world has become very lntentional about the use of plastic from its design to disposal.
0ndo state has keyed lnto this global campaign.
With this, she said concerted efforts arerequired from all households, corporate bodies and the general public to consciously sort plastic waste from other solid waste.
Plastic pollution has become a pressing environmental concern globally and Nigera is no exception.
With an estimated 2.5 million metric tonnes of plastic waste generated annually, there is an urgent need for concerted efforts to mitigate its impact on the environment and public health.
In Ondo State, the State 0SEPA has been in the frontline bringing awareness to this menace since the agency was resucitated in 2022.
