…As Omisore, others pay solidarity visit
Ondo State Acting Governor, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa has declared that the State under the leadership of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu would not give in to fake news merchants who are in the habit of misinforming and misleading the public.
He made this declaration when members of All Progressives Congress (APC) National Working Committee led by APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore paid a solidarity visit to the state on Friday.
Other members of NWC on the visit are, APC Deputy National Secretary, Mr Festus Faunter, APC Deputy Vice Chairman, North Central, Bawa Muazu and APC Vice Chairman, South West, Isaac Kekemeke.
Joining the Acting Governor to receive the NWC members at the Cocoa Conference Hall of the Governor’s Office, Alagbaka Akure, were members of the State Executive Council led by the Secretary to Ondo State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale.
While receiving them, Aiyedatiwa appreciated the concern of the leadership of APC on Mr Governor.
“On behalf of our Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON, I want to thank members of APC National Working Committee being led to our State by Senator Iyiola Omisore on this solidarity visit to our state” , he said.
He disclosed that the Executive, legislature and the leadership of the party in the State are united and working together.
Aiyedatiwa frowned on the danger fake news poses to the society and national well-being.
“A statement honestly made by our National Chairman on our Governor was unfortunately twisted with lies.
“And those present at the said meeting alluded that our National Chairman was misquoted”, he said.
The Acting Governor said, the misinformation was obviously contrived to create ill-will for the State Government and its people.
Earlier, Omisore said “Our Chairman was misquoted and those who are in the meeting can attest to this” .
He said at no time did the National Chairman say the Governor is incapacitated, lamenting that some sections of the press only opted to be mischievous and reported “what they feel makes news” .
“Our visit, therefore is to reinforce the position of the National Secretariat that we only prayed for the quick recovery of Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN CON and not otherwise”, he said.
“Fallen sick should not be an issue…I spoke with Arakunrin last week as we are all looking forward to see Mr Governor anytime from now” , he said.
He said “With what we are seeing here, there’s synergy between the Executive, legislature and the party”.
“APC has come to stay, we are one family, we are not in crisis… the Party on behalf of our leader, Mr President, we are solidly behind the APC-led government of Ondo State” .
Ondo State APC Chairman, Egnr Ade Adetimehin who also led members of the State Working Committe to the event said, working as a team in the State gave the party wonderful performance in the last election.
He equally appreciated the NWC’s visit saying, “we will not take this visit for granted”.
