Ondo will achieve 35 pupils per class requirement – Olabimtan

The chairman of Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB,, Rt. Hon Victor Olabimtan, has assured that the state will work towards achieving the standard requirement of 35 pupils per class.

Besides, he declared that his board will continue to give on the job training to its teachers in line with the modern trend.

These were contained in a statement by the board’s Head, Press & Information Services, ‘Bisi Agboola.

According to the statement, Olabimtan gave the assurance while speaking in a radio interview in Akure, the state capital, noting that when school environment are made conducive and qualify teachers are on ground, parents will be encouraged to enroll their wards in the public schools.

The chairman described the recently concluded headcount of primary school pupils, teachers and the school infrastructure as a huge success.

He commended the proprietors of private schools in the state for their unflinching support. Olabimtan also thanked Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, the people of Owo Local Government Area especially the Olowo of Owo, Oba Gbadegesin Ogunoye, for their support.

Besides, he thanked the Parents Teachers Association, PTA., Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN., and the Muslim bodies for making the exercise fruitful “despite the ugly incident that befell the ancient city recently.”

He said that the Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC., in Abuja “will still come back for a mop-up after the long term vacation to touch other areas that might have been left out. The Subeb boss disclosed that his board will continue to give on the job training to its teachers in line with the modern trend.
