Ondo to build dual carriage Ore – Akure bye pass road

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has assured communities in the state of all-round delivery of meaningful and life impacting projects.

This was contained in a statement by Mr Bode Akinwumi, Press Officer to the Governor.

Speaking while playing host to the Osemawe-in-Council led by the Osemawe of Ondo Kingdom, Oba Victor Kiladejo who led his High Chiefs while on a courtesy visit to him in Akure, he noted that his administration would always put Ondo City on the priority list of development.

According to the governor, there is a plan by his administration to construct a By-Pass road from Ore linking Akure, the state capital without disrupting the socioeconomic activities within Ondo City.

He said the road which would be a dual carriage under a Public-Private Partnership has attracted the attention of some interested companies.

“Ondo matters to us and you should count on us for support. We have plan to have a by-pass road from Ore to Akure, in a way to ensure that will make the route fascinating to transporters.

“The plan has reached an advanced stage but what we are looking for funds to finance it.

“I assure you it will be given the desired priority because if we want to make the state an industrial hub, there must be good road network.

“We will address potholes in the town, though experts have advised us to begin work on them after the rainy season,” he said.

Akeredolu also promised that the University of Medical Sciences, UNIMED, Ondo City would soon start its clinical programme for students of Medicine and Surgery of the university.

“UNIMED is important to us and it is our plan to ensure it stands, we felt that there was need for a Teaching Hospital, so using the Specialist Hospital, Akure in the interim became the best choice.

“I have approved the take-off grants so that our students in clinical will have a place to do their programme.

“Ondo to Akure is not far and we are not annexing Akure to Ondo but for the benefits of the entire people of Ondo State,” he stated.

He highlighted some other ongoing State Government projects in the town to include lighting of street lights as well as renovation and rehabilitation of school buildings aimed at making learning conducive.

Earlier, Oba Victor Kiladejo had formally congratulated Akeredolu on his election as Governor of Ondo State and commended him on the creative application of state resources for which his administration has so far delivered several life changing projects across the state, despite paucity of funds.

The Royal Father requested for the construction of a by-pass from Ore passing through Awoyaya and coming out on Akure road to decongest the Ondo city centre.

According to the Osemawe, the construction of the road and rehabilitation of the road liking the Palace to some courts in the city would bring a lot of relief to the people, passengers and transporters.

On the governor’s team that receive the visitors were the Deputy Governor, Hon Agboola Ajayi; Secretary to the Ondo State Government, SSG; Hon Ifedayo Abegunde; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale; Commissioners for Information and Orientation, Mr Yemi Olowolabi; Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Deaconess Lola Fagbemi; Special Duties, Regional Integration, Prof Bayonle Ademodi and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr Jibayo Adeyeye.

High Chiefs on the Osemawe’s entourage were: the Lisa of Ondo Kingdom, High Chief Simeon Oguntimehin; Jomu of Ondo, High Chief Abiose Akinsade; Odunwo of Ondo, High Chief Olabanji Akingbule; Sasere of Ondo, High Chief Johnson Adedewo; Adaja of Ondo, High Chief Sola Ayodeji ; Chairman, Ondo Development Committee (ODC), Chief Ope Bademosi and Chairman, Eki FM, Chief Jise Akinmurele.
