The Social Democratic Party, SDP Ondo State chapter, has placed its state Secretary, Dr Sola Agboola, on an indefinite suspension.

A statement by the party’s spokesman in the state, Mr Remi Olayiwola, said that the suspension, which takes immediate effect, is in connection with alleged “gross insubordination,  misdemeanour and serious anti party activities which he embarked upon in recent times.”

It said the decision was taken on Tuesday at the State Working Committee, SWC, meeting of the party held at the State secretariat of the party.

According to the statement, a five-man Disciplinary Committee was also set up to investigate series of allegations leveled against Agboola and report back to the party within two weeks.

It said that Agboola is expected to hand over the party’s property in his possession to the state Assistant Secretary, and proceed to appear before the committee.

The suspended Secretary in recent times allegedly posted embarrassing text messages against the leadership of the party  and made several comments in some Nigerian dailies, which run contrary to the philosophy of the party.

The statement said that “members of the public are hereby advised not to recognise Agboola or deal with him on any matter that has to do with the party until otherwise directed”
