Ondo State Government has released the names of the newly recruited teachers for secondary schools in the state.

As part of efforts to solve the worrisome shortage of teachers in public schools, with its adverse consequences on the standard of education, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, last Friday approved the employment of 1,010 new teachers for secondary schools in the State.

His approval came after the completion of the recruitment process by the Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) which screened thousands of applicants last year.

The governor approved the final list for the secondary school candidates last Friday. His approval of the primary school candidates is undergoing its finishing touches.

Successful candidates will begin their documentation immediately.

His approval last year for the recruitment of 1000 secondary school and 1000 primary school teachers signaled the start of the recruitment exercise by TESCOM and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

Aiyedatiwa had expressed concern over teaching staff shortages in public schools, particularly in rural communities. This necessitated his directive that the recruitment must be based on the peculiar needs of the understaffed schools across the State.
