Ondo State Police Command has warned against alllegedly indiscriminate bush burning during the ongoing harmattan season.
A statement by the command spokesman, CSP Femi Joseph, said: “The attention of the Ondo State Police Command has been drawn to the indiscriminate burning of bushes, leading to destruction of properties in some communities within the state.
It is pertinent to state that harmattan wind combined with Dry season usually escalate fire which could in turn bring about destructions of unimaginable proportion.
It is on this note that the Command is advising the good people of Ondo state especially hunters who engage in smoking and bush burning, to hunt animals from their holes and hideouts to desist from such practices as this often leads to loss of lives property and farm produce. Arson is not only wicked but also criminal.
Citizens are also enjoined to report those who indulge in this unwholesome acts to the nearest Police station or call our control room number 07034313903. To be forewarned is to be forearmed.”
